Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Tips
Single Sign-On (SSO)
SSO is used for most Mohawk applications including MyCanvas, MyMohawk, Microsoft 365 and more!
Use your 9-digit Mohawk ID to sign in with the following format: 000101060@mohawkcollege.ca
- MFA is only required when accessing Mohawk applications off campus.
- For technical issues or when switching to a new phone, contact the IT Service Desk.
- Use the Microsoft Sign-In page to update your preferred authentication methods.
MyCanvas
MyCanvas is used to communicate, access course materials, and complete assigned learning activities Use the integrated features to keep track of your work, collaborate with classmates, and view your grades.

- Stay organized with the calendar and inbox tools
- Read - course content, announcements and more
- MyMedia - create your own videos or upload to share for assignments (Kaltura)
- Quizzes and exams (be prepared with reliable Internet)
Mohawk Email
Your Mohawk email is your primary communication while studying at Mohawk. One year after the date of your last class, you will lose access to this account.
Tips
- Your Mohawk email is not your MohawkID
- Read your Mohawk email and MyCanvas inbox messages
- Include your MohawkID when emailing instructors
- Use the Outlook app on your phone
- Access your email directly from the Microsoft 365 Portal
MyMohawk
Get all the information you need from application to graduation, track your application status, pay tuition, select courses and timetables, order textbooks, view course outlines and grades.
Tips
- Access administrative services (fee payment, timetables, course information and grades)
- MAP (My Academic Progress) - great tool for tracking your progress
- Career Ready, Co-Curricular record and student life activities
- Find exemption requests
- Update personal information
Microsoft 365
A subscription-based service offered for free to current Mohawk students. It combines the familiar Microsoft Office desktop applications along with Office online - cloud-based versions of your favourite Office tools.
Tips
- Use the Microsoft 365 portal to access all of the online tools including Outlook
- OneDrive is the recommended tool for storing your files
- Collaborate with classmates using OneDrive or directly from the application (Word, PowerPoint, etc)
- Download the latest Microsoft Office applications on your computers and mobile devices
Respondus
During quizzes and exams, you may be required to use this specialized web browser. Respondus locks down your computer within MyCanvas. This prevents you from reading content on any browser, email or other tools on your computer while taking a test.
Tips
- Download LockDown Browser and do the practice test (early in the semester)
- One day before your test, make sure Respondus is working and updated
- Check the documentation if you are a Mac user
- Ensure that you have a reliable Internet connection
- Restart your computer at least 30 minutes before starting a quiz
Microsoft Teams
Teams is a collaboration platform for online classes. You will need a headset, mic, camera, and a reliable computer and internet connection.
