Introduction
Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) is a subscription-based service offered for free to current Mohawk staff, faculty, and students. It combines the familiar Microsoft Office desktop applications along with Office online - cloud-based versions of your favourite Office tools.

How do I access Microsoft 365 online?
To access Microsoft 365 online:
- Visit Microsoft 365
- Sign in with your with your MohawkID (for example: 000101060@mohawkcollege.ca) and password.
Note: Some new computers are pre-installed with Microsoft 365 Apps that look like the installed desktop version, however they are links to the online portal. To install the Desktop Applications of Microsoft 365 follow the steps in the next section.
How do I install Microsoft 365?
Below are the step to install Microsoft 365 Apps on your computer or mobile devices:
Install Microsoft 365 on your personal computer

- Uninstall any versions of Microsoft 365 or Office on your computer by following these instructions: Uninstall Office from a PC
- Restart your computer
- Open your Microsoft 365 online portal by either through MyCanvas (steps above) or logging into Microsoft365 with your MohawkID (for example: 000101060@mohawkcollege.ca) and password.
- Download Microsoft 365 desktop applications, by clicking on the Install apps button located near the top-right corner and choosing Microsoft 365 apps.
- Once downloaded, open the file (usually in your downloads folder), choose Run and follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation.
- After installing, you must authenticate by logging in to any Office application with your MohawkID (000101060@mohawkcollege.ca). This is required before you can use the software.

Install Microsoft 365 Apps on your mobile devices
Microsoft 365 Mobile apps can be installed individually or by selecting the Microsoft 365 (Office) app which includes Word, PowerPoint and Excel. To learn more, visit Microsoft 365 Mobile Download page.
- On your phone or tablet, open your App Store and search for Microsoft 365 (Office) or the specific App by name (for example: Word)
- Once apps are installed, you must activate by logging in with your MohawkID (000101060@mohawkcollege.ca) and password.
Once you have Microsoft 356 installed or you already have the latest version of Microsoft 365 Apps on your computer you will need to sign-in with or switch to your Mohawk College account
- On your computer, open a Microsoft 365 (Office) App (for example: Word)
- If it is new, or never been signed into, it should prompt you to sign-in
- Activate by logging in with your MohawkID (000101060@mohawkcollege.ca) and password.
- If you have a logged in with a previous account, sign out by clicking into your account settings in the top right-hand corner and then Sign in with your MohawkID (000101060@mohawkcollege.ca) and password.
Note: If you have another current Microsoft account, you may need to add your Mohawk College Account in Settings
- Open your Settings, choose Accounts and Access work or school
- If you do NOT see your Mohawk College Account listed, choose the plus Connect button and follow the prompts to sign-in
What happens to my Microsoft 365 Account after graduation?
Student accounts are active for 1 year after the last day of class in which they were registered. Students are encouraged to copy personal items to personal storage and anticipate the closure of their accounts.
Once you no longer have access to your Mohawk College account you will be required to have an active Microsoft 365 subscription to continue using the full version of Microsoft 365.
