Introduction

A PDF is a Portable Document File that can be opened and viewed by anyone, on any type of device.  Adobe Acrobat Reader is the default application on most devices. Many documents and forms are produced or distributed as PDFs, including some course information and fillable forms that you are required to complete and sign.

 Tip

Download and save any documents from MyCanvas or email before typing any information into the document.

How do I fill and sign PDF documents online?

Note: A free account is enough for the purpose of filling and signing a PDF document. There is no need to purchase a license.

  1. In web browser, go to Fill and Sign a PDF.
  2. Click Select a file and find the fillable PDF form from your file system (you can also drag and drop the PDF file in the same area)
  3. Click Create a free account and finish the signing up. (if you already have an account, you can directly sign in using the options on the screen)
  4. You can see the form now. Click and type to enter any required information within the blue highlighted fields.
  5. Click E-Sign and click Add signature
  6. Select the type of signature you want to add (Type, Draw, Image). After you are done, click Save
  7. Click on the signature and put it where you want on your PDF. If necessary, adjust its position by clicking on the signature and dragging it.
  8. After reviewing the document, click Download.

How do I fill and sign a PDF using a mobile device?

There are a number of mobile apps that can be used to fill and sign a PDF form on Android and iOS devices. Download the  Adobe Fill & Sign app for an easy to use free tool and use the steps listed below:

  1. Open the app
  2. Click X on the top right side of your screen to skip login
  3. Click Select a form to fill out and open your PDF
  4. Tap to enter text in the form fields
  5. Click the pen icon and click Create Signature

How do I convert paper documents into a PDF?

We recommend installing Microsoft Lens on your mobile device to scan and convert paper documents into a PDF.

Download Microsoft Lens for your mobile device: 

Instructions:

  1. Open Microsoft Lens.
  2. Choose Document mode.
  3. Take picture, then tap Take More button if you have additional pages.
  4. Review and Edit -- tap crop button to trim away any parts of the image you don't need.
  5. Save as a PDF.
